Workshops and demonstration timetable 2016

Venue 1 – Silver Saplings Guide Camp – The Art of Survival
Come and learn the skills to be creative in the wild. Drop in all weekend. Camp fire sing song and hot-dogs, Friday 24th 8pm ’til late

Venue 2 – The National Trust, Sculpture Trail
Create your own natural work of art. Not open on Friday.

Venue 4 Contribute to a group canvas with Sue Greenwood and Chris Liley.
Gain hands on experience of actually making art, a great icebreaker for visitors of all ages.

Venue 6 – John Calver, Potter
Watch John at work in his studio throughout the weekend. Throwing, turning and decorating pots.

Venue 12 – Julian Gardner, Stone carving.
Come along and see Julian at work on a project.

Venue 15 – Ian Garson, Painter
Visitors can experience a ‘discovering pattern’ workshop, a process of collage leading to the creation of attractive cards to take away. Drop-in throughout the weekend.

Venue 16 – Music and Art and Craft Tent at the Silverdale Village Institute.
We are having jazz, open mic, bands, soloists, music workshops etc. extravaganza for all age groups on the afternoons of the Saturday 25 and Sunday the 26 of June from 1pm onwards. The Art and Craft tent with art materials and workshops is also on offer, drop in throughout the weekend. Not open on Friday

Venue 16 Priscilla Edwards, Mixed Media
Wire sculpture demonstration, using fabric, wire and wax to create small scale sculptures such as wire cutlery and cotton reel flowers. Drop in throughout the weekend.

Venue 16  – Shelagh O. Lind, Textiles.
Come and see proddy rug demonstrations and have a go yourself.

Venue 17  – Vintage and Country – Gallery
See how teddy bears are made and how to distress and wax a vintage piece of furniture. Have a go at chalk painting. Purchase a small vintage item and paint it with our chalk paints to take home with you later.

Venue 19 – Lancs and Lakes Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers
The Guild will challenge itself to complete a woven scarf from raw fleece for raffle by Sunday evening.  Demos of weaving and spinning – members of the public will be able to have a go. Drop in throughout the weekend

Venue 20 – Concert, ‘If Music Be The Food Of Love’, St John’s Church
A showcase of local musical talent. Entry is by donation to the Parish Rooms. Saturday 25 June  7:30pm–10pm.

Venue 20 – Silverdale Upholstery Group
Demonstrations from a small group of individuals working on upholstery projects showing a variety of techniques. All day on Saturday, and Sunday afternoon.

Venue 22 – Amanda Hunter, Silversmith
Visitors can make their own textured silver pendant using a special rolling mill. Cost £10 to cover materials. Drop in throughout the weekend.

Venue 23 – Lancaster Steiner School
Workshops (1) Painting with children for both parents and children Saturday 11am – 12pm and 2pm – 4pm. (2) Handwork activities for children Saturday 11am – 12pm and 2pm – 4pm, Sunday 1pm – 4pm.

Venue 24 – Ann Bond, Harpsichord
Visitors will be able to experience the touch of the harpsichord and be shown its workings. The music room will be open on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, from 2pm – 5 p.m only.

Venue 25 – Roy Whiting – Woodculture.
See Roy at work on his latest projects.

Venue 26 – John Kingston, Painter
Contribute to John’s latest works depicting the Leeds Children’s Holiday Centre. Your thoughts and memories will become part of his finished artwork. Drop in throughout the weekend.

Venue 26 Jane Mallinson, Feltmaker
Come along and have a taster at making a simple felted object. Friday 6pm – 7pm, Saturday 11am – 12pm, Sunday 11am – 12pm and 2pm – 3pm.

Venue 26 – Julia M  Swarbrick, Printmaker
Monoprinting with jelly workshop on Saturday and Sunday 2pm – 3pm.
Informal relief printing demo with homemade Bottle jack press throughout the weekend.

Venue 26 – Sue Tyldesley – Encaustic art.
Come and have a go at encaustic painting. Cost £2 per person to make a card or keyring. Age 8 plus. Drop in throughout the weekend.

Venue 29 – Kate Schofield, Spinning
Hand spinning and weaving with locally grown wool. Drop in throughout the weekend.

Venue 29 – David Henry Webb, Wood Worker
Demonstrating the making of a driftwood heart set in a large box wood frame

Venue 30 – Photographer Adrian Almond and Eric Pye.
Tips on how to photograph landscape and how to take better images with your smartphone. Drop by for a chat.

Venue 30 – Gilli Slater- Textile Artist
Drop in at any time to watch the creation of pictures using moulded wet fabric and paint crystals. Ask any questions about this unique technique.

Venue 33 – Judith Favret, Papermaker
A demonstration of how to make a piece of handmade paper. 11am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm Saturday and Sunday

Venue 36 – Delcia McNeil, Painter
Demonstration introducing possibilities for creating artwork on an IPad or tablet.  This will include using photographs, as well as a variety of apps. Saturday and Sunday 12 noon, 30 mins.

Venue 37 – Storth Painting Group
Demonstration of portrait and landscape painting throughout the weekend.
